This is a HUGE problem in Indianapolis and every major city in the United States.  A large majority of these dogs are pit bulls.  They are entering Animal Care & Control in large numbers DAILY. Many of these dogs show signs of neglect, cruelty, abuse and starvation. Sadly, the numbers are not going down.  People continue to breed these dogs in order to make a quick buck. There is a complete lack of responsible ownership by these individuals. Generally, the puppies are given away because owners get tired of caring for the puppies or they are financially unable to provide proper care and treatment. Pit Bulls generally have very large litters; usually 10-14 pups. It is a very difficult task to find capable, responsible, homes for that many puppies!

Neutering your male dog reduces the risk of prostate cancer.  Spaying your female dog eliminates the possibility of ovarian cancer and reduces the chances of breast cancer. It also will eliminate the females heat cycle.  Altered animals are calmer, more obedient and more affectionate pets.  Unaltered male dogs make up the majority of dog bite cases; 88% of dogs hit by a car are UNALTERED MALE DOGS!
